About TOR

TOR — formerly The Old Rectory — is a six-room house above the shore of Loch Fyne, on the edge of Inveraray. It's a place to slow down: wake to the loch or the quiet of the walled garden, take your time over coffee and a warm pastry, and use Argyll as your back garden.

The house was built around two centuries ago as the rectory for the parish — chosen, we like to think, for the same reason you'll choose it: the spot looks straight down the loch. We've kept its good Georgian bones, its proportions and its light, and brought everything else gently up to date — modern comfort in calm contemporary rooms — so that the only thing competing for your attention is Loch Fyne itself.

TOR is looked after day to day by owners Brenda and Ernie, who make sure every stay runs as gently as the loch on a still morning.

Part of Inveraray

This is home ground for us. Our team grew up just along the loch, and TOR is our way of sharing the Argyll we know. That local thread runs through how we run the house — we want you to feel at home away from home.

TOR is proud to be part of the life of the town. We support Inveraray shinty club and we're active in the work of Inveraray community council, helping look after the place we all share.

When you stay, you're a few minutes from the heart of a real Highland town, not a resort.
